In last few decade, India has achieved tremendous growth in the field of medical education. Admission to the medical colleges in India is done on the basis of NEET-UG exam. NEET-UG entrance exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) every year in the month of May. 1. All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, Delhi form MBBS Admission In India

AIIMS Delhi, established in 1956 in New Delhi, is India’s leading medical institute under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the AIIMS Act, 1956. 2. Jawaharlal Institute Of Postgraduate Medical Education And Research (JIPMER)

JIPMER stands for Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research. It is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Originated in 1823, located in Puducherry, with an additional campus at Karaikal, it has earned a name for itself with strong teaching, active research, and a high volume of patient care which provides early clinical exposure to its students. It has been ranked 8th in the NIRF Medical category for three consecutive years and enjoys statutory autonomy since the Act of Parliament in 2008.

The undergraduate courses include MBBS, postgraduate courses include MD/MS, and super-specialties include DM/MCh. PhD and fellowship programs are also going, along with B.Sc./M.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc./M.Sc. Allied Health Sciences, and an MPH. Admission to MBBS comes through NEET-UG with all-India counselling.

3. Banaras Hindu University

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is a central residential university in Varanasi founded in 1916 by pandit madan mohan malaviya.The main campus cover more than 1300 acres, and there is a separate south compus in mirzapur. BHU has six institutes and several faculties, including the institutes of Medical science institute of science, Institute of science, Institute of agricultural sciences, Institute of Maganment studies and the institute of environment and sustainable development. IIT (BHU) also functions as an autonomous IIT on the Bhu campus. 4. All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneshwar

All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneshwar is an autonomous Institute of national importance set up by the ministry of health & family welfare in 2012 and functions independently with a teaching hospital on campus. In the latest NIRF 2025 (Medical) rankings, it is ranked 14th in India with a score of 64.31. The institute runs MBBS (125 seats in 2025 as per the round-1 seat matrix) along with programs in nursing, Anatomy and other allied and clinical departments. Regulation of medical education is now under the National medical commission which replaced the medical council of India in 2020.

5. King George’s Medical College

King George’s Medical University (KGMU),Lucknow was established in 1905 and today runs one of India’s busiest teaching hospital networks with about 4,500 beds across Gandhi memorial & associated hospitals. It is NAAC A++ accredited and recognized by UGC. KGMU is ranked 8th in India in NIRF 2025 (Medical). The University runs more than 60 departments and multiple constituent college offering UG, PG, super-specialty and doctoral programs across Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and paramedical sciences. MBBS intake in 250 seats filled through NEET-UG. Medical programs are regulated by the national medical commission (NDC). KGMU medical college also holds ISO certification.
