The Directorate of Medical Education, West Bengal, has released an important update for NEET UG 2025 aspirants regarding category conversion from Indian to NRI. This update follows the recent notice by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), New Delhi, dated 2nd September 2025. Candidates who wish to switch their category to NRI for counseling must follow the guidelines carefully to ensure smooth participation in the WB NEET UG Medical and Dental Counseling 2025.
Who Can Apply for NRI Category Conversion?
- Candidates registered, verified, but not allotted a seat in Round 1.
- Candidates registered and verified for Round 2 of WB NEET UG Counseling 2025.
Eligible candidates must send a request email from their NEET registration email ID to wbnricounseling2025@gmail.com between 5th September 2025 and 7th September 2025, midnight.

Step-by-Step Process After Approval
- Edit registration details using previous login credentials.
- Pay the counseling fee afresh.
- Regenerate the candidate profile letter on 10th and 11th September 2025.
Round 2 candidates who have not paid the counseling fee can directly convert their category during the online registration process.
Mandatory Documents for NRI Status
Candidates must submit the following to ug.nri.mcc@gmail.com from 2nd to 4th September 2025, 11:00 AM:
- NEET UG Admit Card & Score Card
- Proof of NRI status of parent/relative: Passport, Visa, OCI/PIO card, or NRI Certificate
- Certificate of Relationship issued by competent Revenue Authority
- Notarized Affidavit confirming sponsorship, supported by NRE Bank Account Passbook
- 10th & 12th mark sheets and passing certificates
- Birth certificate
- Passport of candidate/sponsor (optional)
Documents submitted in Round 1 must be resubmitted for Round 2 as previous submissions will not be considered.
Important Points to Remember
- NRI status is valid for all subsequent rounds once chosen.
- Candidates cannot claim benefits under SC/ST/OBC/EWS or Minority quotas after switching to NRI.
