Introduction to Ausbildung
The Ausbildung program in Germany is a respected, job-focused training path. You learn by working at a company while also studying in class. It’s great if you want a clear route into careers like healthcare, engineering, IT, hospitality, and more. You gain real skills, earn a monthly stipend, and finish with a recognized qualification. For international students, it’s also a practical way to live, work, and build a career in Germany.
What is Ausbildung?
Ausbildung in German stands for “vocational training” or “apprenticeship.” It’s a dual education system, structured, in which young people study at school in addition to doing paid work in a company. In principle, you are training for a particular profession: learning the theory in vocational college and then putting this into practice at the company. Most programs last for 2 to 3.5 years, resulting in a nationally recognized qualification, in most cases leading to full employment. Basic German, such as B1-B2, is helpful in classes, communications in the workplace, and exams.
