NEET PG 2025 Qualifying Percentile Reduced

The government has decided to reduce the qualifying percentile for NEET PG 2025 to ensure that PG medical seats are not left vacant. The Minister of State for Health stated that this decision was made after two rounds of counselling and that many seats remained vacant at the end of the rounds.

Counselling Body

Here is the respective counselling body for the All India Quota seats and State seats:

  • The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts counselling for 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats, 100% of central university seats, and deemed universities.
  • The State Government conducts counselling for state-quota seats and private medical colleges.

Why was the Percentile Reduced?

The decision was taken due to the following reasons:

  • During the counselling, the Medical Counselling Committee has offered 29,476 seats. Out of which 9,621 seats remained vacant after two rounds of counselling.
  • The counselling process for 50% of seats was conducted by the respective state authorities. It was calculated that around 20,000 seats, including DNB seats, remained vacant.
  • So, to ensure maximum seat utilisation, the government has reduced the qualifying percentile.
