Subsequent Rounds (Tentative)

Candidates who do not secure a seat in Round 1 or wish to upgrade can participate in Round 2 and Round 3. The University will notify the schedule for subsequent rounds on its official website.

Seats Covered Under Uttarakhand NEET UG 2026 Counselling

The centralised counselling will be conducted for the following quota of seats:

State Quota Seats

  • MBBS Courses in Government Medical Colleges affiliated to HNB Medical Education University

  • MBBS Courses in Private Medical Colleges of Private Universities of Uttarakhand

  • BDS Courses in Private Dental Colleges affiliated to HNB Medical Education University

All India Open Quota Seats

  • MBBS Courses in Private Medical Colleges of Private Universities of Uttarakhand

  • BDS Courses in Private Dental Colleges affiliated to HNB Medical Education University

NRI Quota Seats

  • Subject to approval by the Government of Uttarakhand for session 2026-27. A separate notification will be issued by the counselling board.

Uttarakhand NEET UG 2026 Counselling: Eligibility Criteria

For State Quota Seats (Government & Private Colleges)

To be eligible for State Quota seats, candidates must:

  1. Be an Indian citizen

  2. Have qualified NEET UG 2026

  3. Have passed Class 10 and Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognised educational institution

  4. Have obtained minimum marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology taken together:

    • General/EWS: 50%

    • SC/ST/OBC: 40%

    • General-PH/EWS-PH: 45%

Domicile Requirements for State Quota

Candidates must fulfil ONE of the following conditions:

  • Option 1: Domicile/Permanent resident of Uttarakhand AND have passed both High School (10th) and Intermediate (10+2) from a recognised institution situated in Uttarakhand

  • Option 2: NOT domicile/permanent resident of Uttarakhand BUT have passed both High School (10th) and Intermediate (10+2) from a recognised institution situated in Uttarakhand (eligible but no reservation benefits)

  • Option 3: Domicile/Permanent resident of Uttarakhand BUT have passed High School (10th) and/or Intermediate (10+2) from outside Uttarakhand (must upload valid domicile certificate)

Important: Any type of affidavit/acknowledgement will NOT be considered in place of domicile certificates.

For All India Open Quota Seats (Private Colleges Only)

To be eligible for All India Open Quota seats, candidates must:

  1. Meet the age criteria as per NTA/NEET UG guidelines

  2. Have passed Class 10 and Class 12 with required minimum marks as above

  3. Have qualified NEET UG 2026

  4. State quota candidates are also eligible for both State and All India Open Quota seats upon payment of the required security deposit

Uttarakhand NEET UG 2026 Counselling: Registration and Security Fees

Registration Fee (Non-Refundable)

  • For All Categories: ₹6,500 (for Round I, II & III)

  • Bank charges will be borne by the candidates only

Note: The registration fee shall neither be refunded nor carried forward if the application is rejected or candidature is found ineligible.

Refundable Security Deposit

In compliance with the Gazette of India No. 189 dated May 18, 2018 regarding special provisions to prevent seat blocking, the following security amounts are payable:

What Happens to the Security Deposit?

  • Refunded: If no seat is allotted or if the candidate exercises the Free Exit option in Round 1

  • Forfeited: If the candidate fails to report to the allotted college after the date of free exit

Uttarakhand NEET UG 2026 Counselling: Reservation Policy

The reservation policy applies only to State Quota seats and will be applied college-wise. No reservation applies to All India Open Quota seats.

Key Reservation Points

  • Only Uttarakhand state domicile/permanent resident candidates are eligible for reservation benefits

  • Candidates claiming reservation must upload a caste/category certificate along with a Uttarakhand domicile/permanent resident certificate

OBC Candidates

  • OBC certificate is valid for three years only from the date of issue

  • The certificate must be valid up to the last date of admission for session 2026-27

  • Claims with invalid OBC certificates will be summarily rejected

Persons with Disabilities (PwD)

  • 4% horizontal reservation for PwD candidates who are domiciles of Uttarakhand

  • PwD certificate must be issued by the NMC-Designated Medical Board only

Wards of Kashmiri Migrants (WKM)

  • 1 reserved seat in each Government Medical College of Uttarakhand (total 5 seats)

  • Domicile of Uttarakhand is NOT mandatory for WKM candidates

  • Required documents:

    • Registration as Kashmiri Migrant issued by Relief Commissioner

    • Proof of property in Kashmir

    • Proof of current residence

Defence Personnel Wards (DPW)

  • Applicable only for dependents of Ex-servicemen (not in-service defence personnel)

  • Dependents of paramilitary forces are not eligible for DPW reservation

Seat Conversion Policy

Vacant seats are converted in the following order in Round III if eligible candidates are not available:

  1. Scheduled Tribe (ST) Open → Scheduled Castes (SC) Open

  2. SC Open → Other Backward Classes (OBC) Open

  3. OBC Open → Open/Unreserved Category

Uttarakhand NEET UG 2026 Counselling: Complete Procedure

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Visit the official HNBUMU website or the counselling microsite

  • Register using your NEET UG 2026 details

  • Provide a valid mobile number (verification code/OTP will be sent)

Step 2: Upload Documents

Upload clear scanned copies of:

After seat allotment, candidates must choose ONE of the following options:

Freeze (No Upgradation)

  • Candidates satisfied with their allotted seat

  • Must physically report to the allotted institute for document verification and joining

  • Must submit original documents at the institute

Float (Willing for Upgradation)

  • Candidates who wish to upgrade in subsequent rounds

  • Do not need to physically report immediately

  • Must upload required documents for online verification

  • Remain eligible for seat upgradation in Round 2 and Round 3

Critical: If a candidate fails to select Freeze or Float on or before the last date of admission, the seat allotment will be cancelled, and the seat will be included in the Round 2 vacant seat matrix.

Step 7: Document Upload and Verification

It is mandatory for both Freeze and Float candidates to upload clear scanned copies of documents on the portal within the stipulated time.

For Freeze Candidates

  1. Proceed for physical joining/reporting at the allotted institute

  2. Physical document verification at the institute

  3. Admission fee deposit at the institute

  4. Final admission confirmation

For Float Candidates

  1. Verification of uploaded documents by the allotted institute in online mode

  2. If anomalies are detected (blurred copies, incorrect certificates, missing documents), the institute may raise a query

  3. Candidate must re-upload corrected documents within the stipulated time

  4. Provisional seat confirmation if documents are found in order

Step 8: Reporting to Allotted College

Candidates must report personally to the allotted college with:

  • Downloaded allotment letter

  • Proof of payment of advance tuition fee

  • Original documents for verification

  • Remaining fee payment (tuition/hostel/mess charges) via Bank Demand Draft

Important: The admission process is only completed once the candidate receives the admission letter issued by the concerned college.

Uttarakhand NEET UG 2026 Counselling: Free Exit vs Exit with Forfeiture

Round 1: Free Exit Round

  • If a candidate is allotted a seat in Round 1 and does not report/join the allotted college, they will NOT be penalised

  • They remain eligible for subsequent rounds

  • Security deposit is refunded

Round 2 & 3: Exit with Forfeiture

  • If a candidate is allotted a NEW/FRESH seat in Round 2 or Round 3 and does not want to join, they can exit with forfeiture of the security deposit

  • Candidates who resign from an admitted seat before the commencement of the next round can do so with forfeiture of security money

Stray Round

  • If a candidate is allotted a seat in the Stray Round, they must join the allotted seat

  • Failure to join results in forfeiture of security fee AND debarment from NEET examination for the next session year

Uttarakhand NEET UG 2026 Counselling: Refund of Security Deposit

  • Security fee will be refunded after 30 days after completion of all rounds of counselling

  • Refund is made only if not forfeited

  • Refund is processed through online mode to the bank account provided in the application form

Important: Fill bank details of your own account or parents/guardian account only. The University will not be responsible for processing refunds in case of wrong information.
