What is WB NEET UG 2026 Counselling?

The WB NEET UG 2026 counselling is conducted by the West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) under the Directorate of Medical Education, Government of West Bengal . It covers admissions to MBBS and BDS courses across government and private medical and dental colleges in the state through a centralized online process .

The counselling fills seats under three main quotas:

• State Quota (85% in government colleges) — for West Bengal domicile holders

• Private College Management Quota — open to candidates from all states

• NRI Quota — for eligible NRI/PIO/OCI candidates

Eligibility Criteria for WB NEET UG 2026 Counselling

Basic Eligibility

To participate in WB NEET UG 2026 counselling, you must :

1. Qualify NEET UG 2026 with the required category-wise cut-off percentile

2. Be at least 17 years old by December 31, 2026 (date of birth on or before January 1, 2010)

3. Pass Class 12 (10+2) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English individually

4. Secure minimum marks in PCB: 50% for UR/EWS, 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates

Domicile Rules for State Quota

For State Quota seats (85% in government colleges), you must be a domicile of West Bengal. You need to produce a valid domicile certificate in one of these formats :

• Proforma A1: Residential certificate for candidates residing in West Bengal continuously for at least 10 years as on December 31, 2025, and passed Class 10 and 12 from West Bengal

• Proforma A2: Same as A1 but for candidates who passed 10+2 in 2026 from West Bengal

• e-District domicile certificate is also accepted

Important: If you or your parent is not a domicile of West Bengal, you cannot apply for State Quota seats. However, you are eligible for Management Quota seats in private colleges .

Quota Types in WB NEET UG 2026 Counselling

1. State Quota

• 85% seats in government medical and dental colleges 

• Mandatory: West Bengal domicile certificate

• Reservation applies for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD candidates with certificates issued in West Bengal only

• Candidates with caste certificates from other states are treated as Unreserved

2. Management Quota (Private Colleges)

• Open to all candidates regardless of domicile 

• No caste or PwD reservation — allotment purely based on NEET UG combined merit rank

• Domicile certificate NOT required

• Candidates from other states can participate only in Management Quota

3. NRI Quota

• For NRI/PIO/OCI candidates in private medical colleges 

• As per Supreme Court guidelines and MCC norms

• Cannot opt for State Quota or Management Quota simultaneously

• Direct allotment by software after online registration, choice filling, and locking

• Document verification at admission stage; insufficient documents lead to cancellation

Important: Once registered for NRI Quota, you cannot switch to State Quota or Management Quota, and vice versa.

Registration Fee and Security Deposit

Counselling Registration Fee (Non-Refundable) 

Security Deposit for Private College Seats

Candidates who wish to fill choices for Private College seats must pay a refundable security deposit :

Security Deposit Rules:

• Adjusted with course fee if allotted and admitted

• Refunded after completion of counselling if no allotment received

• Refunded for Round 1 if the candidate remains non-reported (free exit allowed)

• Forfeited from Round 2 onwards if the candidate remains non-reported

• Forfeited if documents are found fake or forged (FIR will be lodged)

Step-by-Step Counselling Process

Step 1: Online Registration & Fee Payment 

• Visit https://wbmcc.nic.in

• Enter your NEET UG 2026 Roll Number, Application Number, Name, Mother’s Name, and Date of Birth

• Complete registration and pay the counselling fee online (Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking, UPI)

• Important: Registration details can be edited only before payment. Once paid, no changes are allowed.

Step 2: Candidate Profile Letter Generation

• After successful payment, download your Candidate Profile Letter

• This letter contains your designated verification venue, date, and time slot

• Mandatory for physical document verification

Step 3: Physical Document Verification (Pre-Choice Filling)

• Report to the designated college on the specified date and time with all original documents 

• Not applicable for NRI category candidates (they have direct allotment)

• After successful verification, you’ll receive a server-generated verified certificate

• Only verified candidates can fill choices for that round

Step 4: Choice Filling & Locking

• Log in and select your preferred colleges and courses in order of priority 

• Choices can be rearranged using options like move up/down, delete, or interchange

• Save your choices — unsaved choices won’t be processed

• Lock your choices before the deadline. Once locked, they cannot be changed

• If you don’t lock manually, the system will auto-lock your saved choices

Step 5: Seat Allotment

• Allotment is based on your NEET UG rank, category, preferences, and seat availability 

• Results are published on the WBMCC website

• Allotment is provisional subject to final document verification

Step 6: Reporting & Admission

• Report to the allotted college with original documents and requisite fees 

• Final physical document verification will be conducted at the college level

• If documents are found insufficient/fake, the allotment is cancelled

• After successful verification, pay the admission fee and complete admission formalities

For State Quota :

1. Candidate Profile Letter and payment receipt

2. Domicile Certificate (A1/A2/B format or e-District)

3. Valid Voter Card/Aadhaar/Passport of parent (any 2) for domicile proof

4. Caste Certificate (issued in West Bengal only, if applicable)

Caste & PwD Status Rules

For OBC Candidates 

• OBC certificate must be issued by authorities in West Bengal only

• Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate must be issued on or after April 1, 2026

• OBC candidates with certificates from other states are treated as Unreserved for State Quota

For EWS Candidates

• EWS certificate must be issued on or after April 1, 2026

• Certificate from other states is not valid for State Quota

For PwD Candidates 

• PwD certificate must be issued through the online link provided by MCC, DGHS

• Verification only at designated centers (like NRS Medical College, Kolkata)

• Certificates from other institutes are not acceptable

Round-by-Round Rules

Round 1 

• Free exit allowed if you don’t report to the allotted college

• Security deposit is refunded if you remain non-reported

• Seat surrender is allowed without penalty

Round 2

• Non-reported candidates from Round 1 can participate without fresh registration

• Non-reported candidates from Round 2 need to pay the counselling fee again for Round 3

• Seat surrender allowed but with forfeiture of admission fees

Round 3

• No option for choice upgradation

• Seat surrender is not allowed

• Non-reported candidates are out of the counselling process

Online Stray Vacancy Round

• Fresh registration allowed for new eligible candidates

• No option for choice upgradation

• Non-reported candidates are out of the process

• Security deposit is forfeited

Important Points to Remember

1. Registration is mandatory for each round you wish to participate in.

2. Choice filling and locking is essential — unprocessed choices won’t be considered.

3. Physical document verification is required before choice filling (except for NRI candidates) .

4. NRI candidates cannot opt for State or Management Quota and vice versa.

5. Security deposit refund is processed only after the entire counselling process is complete .

6. Fake or forged documents lead to immediate cancellation and FIR .

• Subarna Banik Samaj: 2 seats in RG Kar Kolkata

Central Pool Seats:

• 3 seats in BMC Burdwan

• 3 seats in BSMC Bankura

• 4 seats in NBMC Darjeeling

• 4 seats in Dr R Ahmed Dental College

These seats are filled through recommendations from the respective trusts and the Government of India.
