Key Changes Introduced for Counselling 2026

MCC has introduced several important changes to make the counselling process more convenient and hassle-free for candidates:

1. Online Document Verification for Float Candidates

Candidates opting for Float (willing to upgrade) no longer need to physically visit the allotted institute for document verification. They can upload scanned copies of documents online, and the institute will verify them digitally.

2. Clearer Freeze and Float Categories

• Freeze Candidates: Satisfied with allotted seat, no upgradation. Must physically report to the institute with original documents.

• Float Candidates: Willing to upgrade in next round. No physical reporting required; documents verified online.

3. Upgradation Available Up to Round 3

Candidates can upgrade their seats from Round 1 to Round 2 and Round 2 to Round 3. After Round 3, all candidates must join the allotted seat.

4. No Resignation After Round 3

Once a candidate joins a seat in Round 3, they will not be permitted to resign from the allotted seat.

Important Payment Rules

• Candidates applying for both Government and Deemed Universities need to pay only the higher fee (Deemed University fee)

• Registration closes at 3:00 PM on the deadline day

• Refund will be processed only after completion of all counselling rounds

Security Deposit Refund Policy

The security deposit will be refunded to the same bank account/card from which the payment was made. Candidates must keep their bank accounts/cards ACTIVE until the refund process is completed.

When Will Security Deposit Be Forfeited?

• If a candidate allotted a seat in Round 2 or subsequent rounds does not join

• If admission gets cancelled due to incorrect information or document discrepancies

• If a candidate resigns from a Round 2 or Round 3 allotted seat

NRI and OCI Guidelines

Eligibility Criteria for NRI Quota

As per the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s principles laid down in Anshul Tomar vs. State of M.P., the following categories are eligible for NRI quota:

1. Category I: NRI Candidate/Parents/Real Brother/Real Sister

2. Category II: Indian to NRI conversion (candidates who filled Indian category in NEET but want NRI category for counselling)
