Q:What is the “Secret Key”?

A: After successful document verification, KEA issues a unique Secret Key. You cannot participate in the “Option Entry” (choosing colleges) without this key

 Q:What is a “Mock Allotment”?

A: It is a trial run. KEA shows you which college you would get based on your current list. You can then change your list before the real Round 1 begins.

Q: Are hostel fees included in the KEA fee structure?

A: No. The fees mentioned by KEA (e.g., ₹1.41 Lakh for Govt. Quota) are tuition fees only. Expect to pay an additional ₹1–2 Lakhs per year for hostel, mess, and books.

Conclusion

KGCET 2026, conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), serves as the centralized gateway for admissions to various professional undergraduate courses. It also manages the state-level counselling for Medical and Dental seats based on NEET scores. The admission process begins with online registration, where candidates submit personal and academic details, followed by offline document verification at designated helpline centres. After successful verification, candidates receive a Secret Key to access the Option Entry portal and fill in their preferred colleges and courses. The seat allotment process starts with a Mock Allotment, followed by Round 1, Round 2, and the Second Extended (Mop-up) rounds, based on merit, reservation norms, and choices filled. Once a seat is allotted, candidates must confirm, opt for upgradation, or exit the process, and finally report to the allotted college with the official admission order.
